The link between meditation and health is widely recognized even by the most conservative of Western medical experts. The positive effects of meditation on physical and mental health are easily observable and quantifiable.

Equally important, are the effects meditation has on spiritual health.

Physically, meditation has been shown to:

  • lower cholesterol,
  • reduce airways constricted by asthma or other lung disorder
  • eliminate digestive problems,
  • help manage chronic pain,
  • speed the healing process and
  • boost the autoimmune system.

Many of these are symptoms exacerbated by stress and anxiety, and meditation is especially effective in relieving these mental and emotional roadblocks to good health. Meditation has also helped those suffering from depression, anger management, drug or alcohol addictions.

All types of meditation seem to have health benefits, although some last longer than others.

The aim of meditation is to understand thoughts and emotions. Once these feelings are revealed and dealt with, negative energy simply fades away. This not only has a physical and mental benefit, but a spiritual one as well, because our true identities and behaviors are revealed to us.”
